About the Artist: "This is an original Oil-painting by the artist - Berthold Harris - Born in 1885 at Vienna, Austria, his extaordinary talent for drawing and painting was already recognized in his early youth. Following his teachers' suggestion he attended the Industrial School of Arts. To develop further his painting he made for instance travels to Italy which brought him a lot of new ideas for his work. He exhibited in the Viennese Glaspalast and Burggarten." - from a printed label, verso.

Carl Bertold studied at the School of Fine Arts in Lausanne, Switzerland. Bertold was best known for his paintings of the Alpines. The cited Carl Bertold paiunting was painted c. 1952, according to the gallery. This information is provided to suggest that either or both paintings may have, in fact, been forgeries - based upon the work of Carl Bertold. Thus, the modest price for the painting listed here.
