About the Painting: Very good. The frame is Mexican and appears
to be molded from a foam material. It is
a very attractive frame without any damage,
but the linen liner is somewhat discolored.
About the Artist: The subject of this painting is European,
and it was attributed to Jean
Madura by the
previous owner. There are four auction listings at artprice.com
for Jean Madura, (XIX-XX). We do not guarantee the attribution, but
are offering this painting below the price
of a comparable print! A larger example by
Jean Madura sold at auction in London, 1992,
for $2,587. Other examples we've seen by
Jean Madura were more traditional in style,
however, this painting may represent a later
work influenced by the modernist trend of
the era in which the artist worked.
