About the Artist: Norton feels that an artists expression reveals much about how they perceive their own identity. "Through the years, my work has reflected exactly what has been happening in m life. It has helped me figure out who I am, and how I relate to the rest of the world. . . Painting helps me understand what is me and what is not" (Southwest Profile 5/97).

Born in 1951 in Maine, Caroline received her art education from 1969 to 1972 at the American Academy of Art in Chicago on a scholarship from the Chicago Union League Civic and Arts Foundation. She has also had private study with her aunt, Bettina Steinke, and with Richard Schmid and Sergei Bongart.

She has taught art classes at St. Johns College in Santa Fe and at The Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is also an art teacher and writer and wrote a book titled The Art of Painting, an academic book on the principles of painting. In 1998, she moved from Naco, Arizona to Kansas City, Missouri.

Selected Exhibitions include shows at OBriens Art Emporium in Scottsdale; Munson Gallery in Santa Fe; Carson Gallery, Denver; Artists of America, Denver; and Arts for the Parks One Hundred, 1993.
