frame.
About the Painting: Very good condition; original frame.
About the Artist:: Barry Peckham was born in 1945 at Ashurst
on the edge of New Forest in Hampshire, England.
Educated at Colbury and Bartley, he began
painting actively in the 1960s and by 1974
began exhibiting in London. To support his
meagre earnings from his painting he took
up various jobs in the building trades. In
1979 he set up his own picture framing business
which allowed him more time for his landscape,
marine and equestrian paintings. His hard
work paid off when he came to the notice
of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and
The Society of Equestrian Artists. In 1989
he won both the Cuneo Prize and The Tom Coates
Award. Today, Peckham has achieved international
recognition and holds many awards. He now
exhibits regularly at The Royal Institute
of Painters in Oil, The New English Art Club,
The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of
Painters in Watercolor, The Royal Society
of Marine Painters, the Pastel Society, and
The Royal West of England Academy.
Note: This painting is priced for about a third
of the cost for similar sized paintings in
British galleries. It is a fine example of
his early work from which his later painting
has evolved - from the same English landscape
where can be found the rivers and shores,
pastures and ponies that feature in his recent
canvases.
