About the Etching: Fair to good; even, dark paper toning, water damage in the margins. and paper loss in the right margin - no damage to the original image area. The image below shows the etching in the original frame, but it is sold unmatted and unframed - due to frame damage. An old label of the original Philadelphia seller has been retained.

About the Artist:
A native of Stuttgart, he was a student of James D. Smillie in New York City. He won many prizes including a silver medal at the Panama-Pacific Exposition (1915) and at the Salmagundi Club in 1917 and 1918. His work is in the Uffizi Gallery, the Library of Congress, the Boston Museum of Fine Art and the New York Public Library.
