About the Artist: Portrait painter in oil, water-colour and
tempera. Born at Wargrave. Studied art at
the R.C.A. under Rothenstein and Short 1920-23.
Received a travelling scholarship 1924. Exhibited
at the R.A., N.E.A.C., and in the provinces.
Lived at Rugby and later at Firle in Sussex.

Walker joined the staff of Southover Manor
School, Lewes in 1953 where she taught art.
Her work appeared in the AIA Newsletter/Bulletin. David Buchman, Artists in Britain Since 1945lists her as working through 1969, but this
painting is dated 1976 suggesting a much
longer active period.
