Biography: Landscape painter, often in water-colour.
Born at Ashton-under-Lyne. At an early age
entered business in Manchester, and in the
evenings studied at the Board School classes
and the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
He took up art full-time, and visited Holland
and Belgium, where he studied under Verlat
at the Antwerp Academy. Exhibited at the
R.A. from 1889, also at the Paris Salon and
in Munich. In 1902 he was elected a member
of the London Sketch Club. He lived at Reigate
and painted many scenes in Surrey, Sussex
and Kent. Died on 22nd March 1928. - from
